Male Dog, Great Pyrenees

Great Pyrenees / Golden Retriever (Long Coat)

Description:

Charlie is a ten year old senior that found himself in a shelter. We have a problem with seniors dumped in shelters and rescued Charlie. He was adopted right off but unfortunately we learned he doesn't like other dogs with the exception of a few. Charlie likes to cuddle. A lump was found on Chuck and a biopsy came back inconclusive so we are keeping an eye on it. He arrived very overweightand has lost almost 20 pounds after discovering a thyroid issue. Charlie is also arthriticas large older dogs tend to get. He is on supplements. Sadly people dont want to adopt older dogs like Charlie so he has sanctuary with us tp live out his days although we would love to find a furever foster home for him. Please visit our website for more info on our adoption process and adoption application www.barkdogfarm.org Before applying be sure you have thoroughly researched Great Pyrenees. They can be stubborn, prone to barking, overly protective and cannot be off leash. You WILL NOT train a pyr to boundaries. Please be sure all family members are in agreement to adopting and your family is ready to bring dog home now. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. We do not have blanket criteria regarding adoptions. Each applicant is considered based on many things including but not limited to breed experience, yard ( visible fence preferred) and other animals in home. We try to avoid dogs with same sex households as pyrs typically do not do well with the same sex. A volunteer will be in touch to discuss your application and the dog to determine if it is a good match. Your vet and two references will be called. A virtual home visit done. Once approved a meet and greet at the farm will take place. If all are in agreement an adoption contract will be signed and adoption fee paid. Adoption fees for dogs are $450. for adults over 12 months, $550 for puppies 12 months and younger. Fees for seniors, special needs or harder to place dogs will be determined by our Board of Directors. All dogs will be altered when adoption is finalized. This may involve young puppies be given until a certain age to be altered. All animals are up to date on age appropriate core vaccines, negative for parasites, heart worm and lyme tested if 6 months or older, microchipped and have a current health certificate. Proof of a basic obedience course completed is part of our adoption contract within six months. Our descriptions are based on shelter evaluations, input from foster homes and interactions with our volunteers but are in no way a guarantee of temperment. We show animals by appointment only. This is usually done meet outdoors so please dress accordingly. Please email [email protected] with any questions or to arrange a meet and greet.
