When Benson's owner landed in the hospital, this poor boy was left home alone. Luckily a kindly coworker would stop by to feed this boy every couple days. But then Benson's owner went into a hospice facility & Benson was brought to see her one last time. Upon hearing this sad story, NorthStar decided to take Benson into our rescue because he had nowhere else to go. Benson is a 13-year-old Dachshund mix who gets along just fine with both cats and dogs. He enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home and gets along with the cats who live there, too. He's been around young and older kids and enjoyed cuddling with them. He has learned to use the doggie door at his foster home, but occasionally marks inside (we think this is because the person checking on him wasn't letting him out. She just dumped food for him and filled the water bowl). But we feel that Benson would make a great family dog and do well in a multi-dog home or as an only dog. Benson will be microchipped, neutered and brought up to date on his vaccines before heading to his new home.
