Female Dog, Chihuahua

Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

Meet Siren, an adorable "Chi-weenie" (a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) who was surrendered to the shelter after her elderly owner could no longer care for her. She is a darling (seriously, she's great) 6-year-old girl who weighs less than 12 pounds. Siren will be quiet and observant the first week she spends with you, but then her personality kicks in. She likes having a playmate around her size - she's okay with foster mom's big dogs but seems a little intimidated by one of them. Her last owner said she was attacked by a big dog a few years ago, so that might be the issue. Siren likes soft squeaky toys, and loves having a fenced backyard. She eats her meals in a big crate because she's a bit of a pig and will start cleaning other bowls before the dogs have finished. She's okay with the cat - she tries to chase the one in her foster home, but when he turns to face her, she cries like she's been assaulted. Let's say she is good with dog-savvy cats. Siren isn't destructive (we leave her out with the others when we are gone), and she prefers sleeping in the human bed. For awhile, she kind of whimpered/whined like she needed something but hasn't been doing that as much lately. Siren is also housebroken and walks nicely on a leash. All in all, she's a pretty much perfect little gal in a neat little package! If you are interested in adopting Siren, please complete an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and be sure to ask for SIREN TX! Her adoption fee is $425.
