Female Dog, Great Pyrenees
Great Pyrenees (Long Coat)
Description:
Hannah, who is friendly with people, other dogs and loves cats is always happy and is very excited to meet her new family! She is just a big, happy young girl who loves to play! This girl is ready to learn from you – so far, she has mastered a crate, is doing great learning to walk on a leash, and has discovered the pleasure of being groomed and the joys of toys! Hannah thinks all dogs are her friends and will eagerly walk up to them ready for playtime! She loves cats, and when introduced she showed how gentle and sweet she is by walking up to one, tail wagging, and politely licked the kitty on top of its head. She enjoys being in the house; especially if there is a toy box included—she loves to take all the toys, carry them around and then take them into her crate for a nap. She has not been with children but with her gentle nature she should be fine with those who have been raised with large breed dogs. Hannah, like most young dogs, will need additional training which she will soak up with plenty of patience and bunches of treats! She would love to join her new family for a walk or just hanging out in the house. This fun, happy, playful girl will need a canine brother who enjoys playing, and a secure 5-foot fenced yard to join him in! With a big smile and a wagging tail, Hannah wants to be in the middle of everything and assumes the world is here for her to enjoy! National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
