Male Dog, Shepherd
Shepherd / Mixed (Medium Coat)
Description:
Barry was born about April 27, 2023 and he came in a bit underweight, but will likely top out around 40 lbs. He is with us because his young, single mom, human couldn't afford to care for him and was in the process of moving. Barry was living with a mid-teen boy and was wonderful with him. He is also very good with dogs of all sizes, and we were told the cat swatted him once and he ignored it thereafter. She did say he was house trained, but with all these changes we want to caution you to be careful at first until you learn each other's clue and, at times he would wake her in the night to go poo. Barry may be a dog that needs a leash or fenced yard as there may be some wanderlust. Barry does well on leash. He hadn't shown an interest in toys but loves treats and peanut butter. UPDATE 10/22/24 : The above description was written on the day Barry was surrendered to us and based on the information given by the previous owner. It has taken Barry almost 4 months to adjust to life here and we feel that he has experienced several traumas in his short life. What those traumas were, we don't know, but this guy has needed a lot of emotional healing, and we feel he is finally starting to feel happiness again but still needs work. We will be looking for a home that has experience with fearful dogs and one that also has another well-adjusted dog in it to help Barry with his next transition. A home with no children and and a fenced yard to ensure his safety is a must. If your interested in Barry please understand he will need lots of time and understanding but he will be worth the extra work! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_400.00.
