Male Dog, Flat-Coated Retriever

Flat-Coated Retriever / Border Collie / Mixed (Long Coat)

Description:

Willard was born around July 1, 2022 and weighs about 55 lbs. Willard was found in a nearby town and when no one came looking for him the local dog control officer reached out to us for help. Willard is just stunning with his long, lustrous, fur and soulful eyes. Willard is a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. Willard rides nicely in the car and walks ok on a leash. Willard was introduced to children around 8 years old and was fine with them but we are going to say no tiny, noisy, kids because of his initial shyness. In the short amount of time we have known him he has shown us he is a VERY smart boy! He found the dog door quickly and we feel he is doing well going potty outside. We've also found that he is a water dog true to our guess for breeds and it doesn't matter if it's a pool or a pond - he's all in! Willard is HAPPY!!! And he's a busy guy that is adoring all the play and running with the other young dogs here. Willard came to us with a rear leg limp and a surgical consult resulted in the diagnosis that Willard likely suffered being hit by a car in his youth (as growth plates are involved) and his injury was not medically addressed and his hip joint is very out of place and not correctable along with bone fragments throughout the area. In recent years dogs have been undergoing FHO surgery (femoral head removal) for dysplasia and other debilitating hip joint problems with remarkable success! Due to the generosity of a very gracious previous adopter Willard has gone through this life altering surgery at Perry Pet Vet in mid January and has bounced back better than any of us could have hoped and now he is pain free! He does still have a limp that is sometimes better or worse and will likely continue to improve over time. He has no limitations and he is happily bounding around enjoying life. We are so very happy for Willard!! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY. Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list.
