Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (Short Coat)

Description:

Location: PA Everyone meet Tucker. Tucker is a 6 year old Cattle Dog that was picked up as stray down south. This poor man was terrified at the shelter and his only hope was with a rescue. That’s how this gorgeous furry friend came to reside with his foster mom and siblings near Pittsburgh. Tucker has come such a long way since he has been in foster care. He will no longer “pancake” when I go near him or duck his head when I go to put on his leash or pet him. Tucker will “mouth” my hand now looking to play and puts his nose under my hand looking for pets. He will get up on the bed and curl up right beside me, but lets out a little growl and moves if my arm goes over him. Make no mistake, he is not aggressive in anyway at all, he's just letting you that makes him uncomfortable so he moves. Tucker LOVES to play ball. LOVES-LOVES-LOVES. And he is good at it. Nothing else exists in his world when we are playing ball. Tucker is a medium to high energy cattle dog. We do a quick 15-20 minutes of playing ball in the morning and at least 30 minutes at night. In between he will play with his foster siblings or chew on a bone and does quiet down well at night. Tucker is crate trained when no one is at home and does well in his crate. He is still fearful when we leave his comfort zone like getting in the car and going to the vet. And when company comes over, he is still very wary and distrustful, but he will now approach people to sniff them. Tucker even stays in the same room with them, albeit on the other side of the room. He is still very much a work in progress but so worth the effort. He is just looking for his person. Due to his fear, Tucker would probably do best in a home that is relatively quiet. Tucker weighs 38 pounds, neutered and up to date on all vaccines and preventatives. He is being fostered near Pittsburgh PA. Please email questions to [email protected].
