Description:
You MUST submit a Best Friend Pet Adoption application to be considered for Chunky Monkey.. The application and additional information can be found at bfpa.org. FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Meet one of the Ice Cream Puppies. Chunky Monkey is around 14 lbs and 8 weeks old. His momma is a mixed breed shepherd who weighs 52 lbs. and is 2yo. She is shown in the photos above. Chunky Monkey just had his first vet exam on 12/2 and is now ready to leave him Momma and siblings. He has his bags packed and is ready to explore what life will bring him in his new adoptive home!! Could that home be yours?? Chunky Monkey is very playful and a joy to be around! He loves toys especially ones with lights and springs. He is too busy playing with his toys and siblings to bother with being held a lot. Once he goes into his forever home that will probably change when he becomes the center of attention. Chunky Monkey is a typical puppy who enjoys playing with his siblings and gets along well with older dogs and humans. Puppies this young may not be appropriate for very young children since they will play bite and nibble on hands and feet when given the opportunity. EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Butter Pecan and her Ice Cream Puppies were pulled from a rural shelter. Momma and puppies were found as strays and never reclaimed. The shelter said 2 of the puppies were born before arriving at the shelter and the 3rd puppy was born at the shelter (puppies DOB is 10/6/24). Butter Pecan will also be available for adoption soon. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed. ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Ideally you should live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We may consider adoptions that are within an hours drive IF the adopter is willing to come to the Raleigh/Cary area for all medical care until the puppy is neutered at around 6 months of age. We prefer to adopt young puppies to people who have previous experience owning a dog and live in a single family house rather than an apartment, condo or townhome. Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue. Any children in the home under 6 years old should have experience living with a dog in their home. NOTE: Since Chunky Monkey has only had one vaccine, he is still susceptible to diseases. He cannot live in any multifamily dwelling without his own dedicated yard. Any adopter must have their own yard and must keep him only in their home and yard until the second vaccine in early January. He cannot travel over the holiday season.
