Male Dog, Pit Bull Terrier

Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

Hi! My name is Boyd. I came into the shelter after my previous owner was no longer able to care for me. I am a friendly, curious and energetic fella. I enjoy long walk and I would love to learn new tricks for yummy treats! It is unknown how I am with other animals so staff recommends slow and monitored introductions. Please ask staff if you have any questions about me. I hope to meet you! :)INSIGHTS FROM MY FRIENDS:`Boyd has the holiday spirit and is ready to find his home for the holidays! Don't let his kennel energy fool you, he is a complete dream dog with good boy manners. He is very smart and treat motivated. He knows sit, is learning wait and stay, and responds very well to his name and commands. Check him out on a recent Saturday in the play yard showing off the skills he learned in less than 15 minutes. He is cuddly, goofy, sweet and loves to play. He is curious, easily redirected, takes treats gently and loves to lean in for scratches and pets. This is a fantastic dog who deserves a chance. Come meet him and be the lucky forever family who gets to love this sweet guy.``Boyd was excited when we picked him up at the shelter, and totally loved going on a 4-mile hike at Carolina North Forest. He has a lot of energy and was strong for the whole hike, trotting and sniffing along the side of the trail. He did pull on the leash quite a bit because he liked going at his own pace and had a lot of energy to burn off. More practice should help with that. Boyd was friendly, cheerful, and playful. He sat nicely for treats and especially loved his pup cup after the hike. I sat with him in the backseat on the way back to the shelter and he just wanted to give kisses and snuggle up. I think Boyd would be a great addition to a family that can provide him with long walks or other exercise.``We spent the winter storm weekend with sweet Boyd. He was a pleasure to have around. This boy is a well-behaved, handsome, smart and sweet li'l goofball. He loves to roll around and sleep on his back. He enjoys fluffy toys he can dissect. He can be playfully nibble-y, so having toys he enjoys is key for redirecting. He has pretty good leash skills already, is very responsive to his name and holds a 'sit' well. He enjoyed short play bouts with our pup and read her behavior well. They also took nice walks together, but we did make sure to keep them separated most of the time until they warm up to each other more. Doesn’t show any food or toy aggression. We left him alone a couple times and checked in on him with our home doggie cam. We were pleased to see him just chillin' on the couch or waiting by the doggie gate. We also crated him at bed time and again checked in with our camera. He took about 5-10 min to lay down, but after that he just fell fast asleep and appeared to rest well most of the night. He was always so happy and wiggly when we let him out in the mornings. Overall, Boyd is the bestest boy with a heart of gold.`My adoption fee has been fully sponsored.Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!Visit this page or call 919-942-7387 for more information.
