Description:
Meet Gibbs, a tiny 38lbs, one-and-a-half-year-old with a big heart. He might seem shy at first, but his sweetness shines through once you get to know him.Gibbs’ story is a heartbreaking one. His previous owner surrendered him to the shelter, asking that he be euthanized. They said he was unwanted. But the shelter staff saw something special in Gibbs and refused to give up on him.For months, Gibbs hid in his kennel, tucked away in the back, afraid of the world. No one seemed to notice him. As the shelter filled up, Gibbs found himself on the euthanasia list. It was a devastating turn of events.Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, a loving foster family stepped in to offer Gibbs a chance to learn how to be a dog. They discovered that Gibbs is a gentle, goofy, house-trained boy who walks well on a leash and loves to play with other dogs. He's even made friends with a dog in a wheelchair! It took time for Gibbs to trust his foster family. He’s especially fearful of men and will often hide from them. But with patience and love, he’s making progress. He’s even started going on walks with his foster dad.Gibbs would thrive in a home with another dog or two. Their companionship would help him feel safe and loved. He loves playing, exploring, and especially swimming! With patience, routine, and lots of love, Gibbs can blossom into the happy, confident dog he deserves to be.Please note: A martingale collar is essential for Gibbs as he can get scared easily and may try to slip out of his regular collar.
