Female Dog, American Staffordshire Terrier
American Staffordshire Terrier / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed
Description:
This is a courtesy post. Please do not contact Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue for information. Contact information is provided in the description below.Journey is a two-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull (among other things) mix. She has been spayed and is up-to-date on vaccines and weighs about 60 lbs.Journey needs a more patient and active home than what the current owner can provide. She would do best in a home that has kids, joggers, hikers, etc. She is energetic, loving, great with kids (super gentle with babies too), other dogs, and cats. She is housebroken (whines at you if you're on the couch, but if you're doing chores you've got to pay attention to her cues). She wants to follow you everywhere and get all the attention. If you have other dogs, most commands must begin with her name or she pretends she doesn't hear you. She does the rabbit bounding run, can jump and clear the full height of a 230 lb. Mastiff, does the pounce forward when trying to entice other animals to play, and loves to run laps around the house when outdoors. She is healthy, although has a slight allergy to grass with is managed by Cetirizine HCI (super cheap on Amazon). She will eat all food and treats within reach. She knows basic commands. After she learns property boundaries, she stays in the yard without a leash while the owner checks mail, mows, etc. and can be let out to use the bathroom without running off. The owner does not recommend leaving her in a fenced yard unattended because she may dig. She goes well on leashed walks, seems to enjoy car rides, is easy to bathe and doesn't fight nail trimming. If you are interested in Journey, please contact R. Sage Walls at 704-718-3943.
