Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie (Medium Coat)
Description:
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Daisy is a sheltie who walks well on a leash and loves going for walks. When in her yard, she enjoys sniffing around and may bark if she spots a bird or squirrel—just to let you know she’s seen it. Daisy has done well at the groomer and is fully house-trained. She even gently paws at you when she needs to go outside. She has been good with quiet children but is a bit timid, making her a better fit for a calm household rather than a loud, active one. She gets along with other dogs but is more confident around smaller ones. At mealtime, she prefers to eat separately from other dogs. She is fearful of cats and will refuse to walk past one. (We have asked the foster to let us know if this changes once she gets used to the cat at the foster home). Daisy is trustworthy, has great house manners and has not been crated. She is a little reserved and shy. It has taken her a couple of weeks to “come out of her shell” at the foster's home so she might need some time to adjust in her forever home as well. Once she is comfortable with her people and home, Daisy is definitely a Velcro dog. Her favorite spot is right next to her foster on the sofa or chair, and since she’s small, she fits perfectly. When lying on her bed—always near her foster—she daintily crosses her front paws. She loves being with her human so much that she has occasionally almost slipped out of the house as the foster was leaving. However, she continues to grow more confident and independent as she learns her foster’s home routine, and this sweet sheltie will continue to blossom in her forever home.
