Description:
Cheerio is ready for his forever home! He went to the cardiologist earlier this month and was diagnosed with moderate to severe pulmonic stenosis. He has started atenolol, a beta blocker. This medicine lowers the heart rate and decreases the heart’s demand for oxygen which will help regulate his heart beat. He will be on the beta blocker for the rest of his life. It is a fairly inexpensive medicine and will cost the adopter around $10-$25/month. He will also be due for a follow up echocardiogram in six months to ensure the medicine is working and that is doesn’t need to be adjusted. There is a surgery that is recommended for Cheerio if his condition doesn’t improve with this medicine. It is a very costly surgery and does not guarantee a complete fix which is why we have decided to go this route and not have him go through this risky surgery at such a young age. We are hoping there is a special home out there for Cheerio. He is a very sweet boy and deserves the best! If you are interested in Cheerio please fill out an adoption application at: https://www.scarohio.org/adoption-application If you want to know more in detail about Cheerio’s medical condition, please email us at [email protected]
