Female Dog, Treeing Walker Coonhound
Treeing Walker Coonhound / Hound (Medium Coat)
Description:
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Liberty is an absolutely stunning 2-3 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound who is a solid 60lbs. She is so sweet and loves to snuggle with her people and dog friends when it’s time to relax. Like many hounds she is curious and likes to explore and police for small critters so a 6ft fence is a must along with a cat-free home. Liberty loves everyone but her play style is better suited for older or sturdier kids. She can be protective of treasured toys (mostly bones or ones that squeak) and is best fed separately, but truly adores other dogs and seems to enjoy being a member of the pack. She might be best paired with a more tolerant canine companion, but does take cues very well when she’s playing too rough for their liking. Liberty would benefit from continued training to modify her protective behavior and work on basic commands. Liberty loves walks and to explore new places and new smells. She walks well on a leash but is still mastering a loose leash. She is not a lover of the crate but will tolerate it for a few hours. She sleeps on a dog bed in her foster’s bedroom and does great there overnight. This hound girl can get mischievous when bored and will look for things to steal so leaving her unattended and uncrated during the day would not be an option right now. Her forever family should have someone who works from home or is only gone a few hours a day so she can be the happiest and best girl. This special lady deserves a home of her own after being stuck and overlooked in an overcrowded shelter for months. She has the sweetest face and soulful eyes along with a charming and silly personality. You can’t help but fall in love with her. ❤️ If Liberty sounds like a great addition to your family, email us at [email protected]. (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area South Jersey and northern Delaware only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php . We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at [email protected].
