Female Dog,

Unknown Breed (Short Coat)

Description:

If you're looking for the perfect snuggle companion, Harlem might be your perfect match! According to her foster, "Harlem's full-time job is Lap Dog. She wants nothing more than to be close to her human. If a human isn't available, snuggling with her fur-sibling will do." This gentle, affectionate girl is friendly with people, dogs, and even cats. While she may take some time to warm up to other pets, her foster says, "She may start off ignoring them, but once she warms up, she’ll cuddle up with them for a nap. She does better with dogs that are also calm." She’s even picked up a few tricks—like using the doggy door—just by watching her foster sibling! Harlem enjoys a slow-paced, cozy lifestyle, and her ideal day is simple: "She starts her day with a potty break in the yard before breakfast, wanting you nearby while she eats. Then, she naps in your lap while you work from home, enjoys a slow walk to soak up the sun and smells, and spends the evening snuggling up with you while you watch TV or read. If you need to move around, she’ll patiently curl up with her fur-sibling and wait for you." She’s a great walker and gets excited when she knows it's time to go outside. "Harlem walks great on a leash. She walks pretty slow and likes to sniff everything," her foster shares. She is mostly house-trained and does well with a consistent potty routine. At night, Harlem is perfectly content in her crate and sleeps soundly. Harlem has made great progress with being alone and is much calmer when left with another dog for company. Her foster reports, "When we leave, she goes straight over and curls up next to my pup. She stays calm and quiet until we return." Because of this, we think she would thrive in a home with another dog to help her feel secure. Harlem is a gentle, loving, and easygoing dog who thrives in a calm environment. If you're looking for a devoted companion who will happily be by your side, Harlem is ready to bring warmth and comfort into your home.
