Male Dog, Labrador Retriever

Labrador Retriever (Short Coat)

Description:

Meet Coco – a beautiful, purebred, 5-year-old, male Chocolate Lab! Coco has lived with his current family since he was three months old. The family must re-home Coco due to a family health issue. They want to ensure that Coco continues to get the exercise and attention he needs and deserves. Coco weighs 83 pounds and is in great shape thanks to his three daily walks and games of fetch. He is a high-energy boy. Coco is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. Coco is good with children and currently lives with 3-year-old twins. He likes to stick close to them, especially when they have food! Coco is good with other dogs and likes to play. But he is more interested in spending time with humans, especially humans who will play fetch with him. Coco is unknown with cats since he’s never spent time with one. He tries to chase squirrels that he sees on his walks, so he would probably chase cats and other small animals. Coco is an athletic guy who needs daily exercise to settle. If he doesn’t get enough exercise, he may use his energy to get into mischief – chewing shoes, counter surfing, and other things dogs do when they have too much energy to burn! Coco is housebroken. He is not a big barker. He has no fears or phobias that the family knows of. He loves to go for car rides and enjoys looking out the window. He knows lots of commands like sit, down, shake, and wait. Coco will sit while you put his food down and wait for you to tell him it’s okay to start eating! He eats quickly so his family feeds him in a slow-feeder bowl. But he shows no signs of guarding his food and allows his owner to take anything from him. Coco likes to get on the furniture and hopes you will leave room for him on the couch! He may occasionally counter surf and would probably trash-pick if he had access to the trash can. He may jump on you when he’s very excited during play, but normally is not a jumper. He sometimes chews non-dog items (like shoes) or grabs something to play “keep away”. But that is typically when he’s bored because he hasn’t had enough exercise. Coco loves to be wherever his people are. Coco’s family wants him to find a new home where he won’t “just live in the house”. They want Coco to be an active part of the family, involved in the family members’ daily lives. They would love for Coco to have a fenced yard where he could play fetch. They describe Coco as playful, friendly, food motivated, very attached to the family, and always excited to see them when they come home, even if they've only been out a short time. They want Coco to find a new family who will enjoy all these things about Coco and give him the time, energy, and love he deserves.
