Female Dog, Labrador Retriever
Labrador Retriever (Short Coat)
Description:
Raven is a sweet and gentle purebred Labrador Retriever with a kind, loving nature, a gorgeous black coat and soulful deep brown eyes which radiate love and gratitude to her humans. She is growing more curious about the world around her but is cautious of new sounds and sites and people as she lived the first 7 years of life in a concrete breeding pen with little to no human contact and very little medical care. Despite a rough beginning, she has made steady progress in learning what life as a house pet is all about and has shown that she is a loyal companion once she gets to know you and is never far from her trusted people. She loves affectionate contact and is a huge fan of pets, rubs, snuggles and all the best human attention. While she has certain comfortable “safe spaces” where she feels most secure, Raven has learned that her entire foster home is a secure place to relax and let her inner “labbie” girl express itself. She is fully house trained and completely reliable in the house with no signs of mischief like counter surfing, trash can snooping, or destructive chewing. She sleeps soundly and snores away all night on her dog bed in her humans’ bedroom. Outside the house Raven has learned the joy of fetching tennis balls, going for walks in the park, hiking in the woods, meeting new dogs at the dog run, and seeing the sites from the backseat of the car. Raven loves other dogs, and her tail wags gently whenever she has a chance to meet a new doggie friend. She has been in her foster home with a calm, confident, friendly foster sister pup and takes cues and comfort from the companionship. She benefits so much from having her sister nearby that we know her best forever home will include at least one other dog. Raven does suffer from anxiety which is caused by the neglect she endured in her previous life. She has been steadily progressing into a much more relaxed and confident girl with the help of her foster family. She will need an adoptive home where her people understand the patience, love and understanding needed by an anxious dog, but the love and care invested in her will be paid back in multitudes when she fully adjusts to her new life. She is brimming with love and gratitude for her people and watching her decompress and begin to blossom into a happy girl has been a wonderfully rewarding experience. If you're looking for a beautiful loyal, loving, and gentle companion, and you are willing to take the time to build her trust, Raven is the perfect dog for you.
