Male Dog, Labrador Retriever
Labrador Retriever / Mixed (Medium Coat)
Description:
If not adopted beforehand, this dog will attend the Super Dog Adoption Event on Saturday, November 2nd at Clark Farms in Matunuck, RI. Learn more about this event and sign up for 10am Early Entry HERE Age: 7 months (as of 10/10/224) Weight: 52 pounds (as of 10/4/24) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Hobbie Lobby, and his brother Wes, were spotted abandoned in a bayou by some children who called their father and a family friend, who came and rescued the puppies. They appear to be Labrador Retriever mixes and lived in a home with adults and multiple animals including dogs, a cat, and chickens in the South. They are a bit focused on the cat so might not be the best fit to live with one. Like most young dogs, Hobbie and Wes enjoy rough wrestling, chasing each other, and playing bitey-mouth. They love toys, and they are always happy to learn new things and work for treats. They also adore cuddling! Hobbie has not had any accidents in his current foster home with frequent outings. He has done well in his crate. Hobbie is working on leash skills, and he is learning how to greet people without jumping enthusiastically on them. Their inside time has been very limited, so their future owners should be prepared to go slowly, keep their worlds small and predictable for a while, and offer new freedoms gradually to set them up for success. We recommend obedience training for all of our dogs, especially puppies. That way, you can both learn the commands together, and the dog gains confidence. Hobbie is a terrific and energetic young dog who will be a great fit in a wide variety of living situations. He will be a wonderful hiking companion, and anyone who is lucky enough to adopt him will have a loving companion for life! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
