Leo Nova - MEET ME!
Status: Last posted as 'available' on 10/30/24

Male Dog, Labrador Retriever

Labrador Retriever / English Pointer / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

If not adopted beforehand, this dog will attend the Super Dog Adoption Event on Saturday, November 2nd at Clark Farms in Matunuck, RI. Learn more about this event and sign up for 10am Early Entry HERE Age: 3 months (as of 10/15/24) Weight: 18.2 lbs. (as of 10/30/24) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Say hello to Leo Nova! Leo is one of four pups in the brand-new Nova litter. These cuties are 3 months old and look to be Labrador/English Pointer mixes. Leo and his brothers were born to a stray mother at a litter, and now we're looking for furever homes for these little guys. Leo is your classic playful puppy -- affectionate, outgoing, and ready to have fun! He can entertain himself with squeaky chew toys, but also loves puppy playgroup. He likes to chase his brothers, wrestle, and have a great time with his furry friends. He is definitely a lap pet (especially while he's still pretty tiny!) and loves to snuggle. Like any young pup, Leo is going to need some help with his training. He's working on his house training, crate training, and walking nicely on a leash. He sometimes tries to escape through doors and gates, but it's only because he's eager and excited! With a little practice, we're confident Leo will master his house manners in no time. Puppy training classes are also always a great idea for new dogs and their families. Leo would love to socialize with some other dogs, and it will be a great way to pick up some new training tips! He's ready to learn and find some new friends to love. Have you fallen for Leo Nova? Fill out an application today! Medical Note: A littermate of this dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. As there is thought to potentially be a genetic component to predisposition to this condition, this dog has been preventatively treated though does not currently show any bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
