Male Dog, Rat Terrier
Rat Terrier / Mixed (Short Coat)
Description:
If not adopted beforehand, this dog will attend the Super Dog Adoption Event on Saturday, November 2nd at Clark Farms in Matunuck, RI. Learn more about this event and sign up for 10am Early Entry HERE Age: 6 months (as of 11/1/2024) Weight: 16 lbs (as of 9/18/2024) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Winter Squash can’t wait to meet you! This sweet and playful boy is very smart and very precious! We are thinking handsome Winter is a Rat Terrier mix. Winter loves everyone he meets, including school age kids, and is playful with other dogs. He loves toys and is happy to chill with a ball when not playing with you! He loves a good game of fetch. He is a smart boy that is crate trained! He is still working on housetraining, and is getting really close, but still needs a little practice. He is getting mostly yard play for exercise, but his leash skills are in the works and he recently enjoyed an outing to an outside restaurant where he could say hi to allllll the people. Winter would love to find a forever family that has lots of time and patience to raise a puppy properly, and who has lots of extra time for loving and cuddles. He would thrive in puppy school! If you are looking for a puppy, Winter, or one of his littermates may be perfect for you! Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family! Squash Pups’ story: Their pregnant mom was found as a stray. A loving family took her in where she had her litter. They are now living with a loving foster family and doing great! Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. The dog has responded well to this treatment and is ready for adoption, though may still have some bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
