AT RISK: Elijah is kennel stressed and has been in our care for over 210 days!He is in URGENT NEED of stability from a foster to adopt, long term foster, or adoptive home. If he does not find a home by 2/15/25, the unimaginable and heartbreaking fate of humane euthanasia awaits him. Elijah is shy at first, needing some time to warm up to new people, but once he feels that warmth of trust—especially from women—he transforms. He eagerly seeks out affection, offering sweet hugs in return, melting hearts with each gentle embrace. He does need more exposure, time, and patience to connect with men. He yearns for a special human companion who can look beyond the surface of a timid and cautious dog. There’s a spark in his eyes when he sees kindness, and we're discovering just how eager he is to please those who love him. Our dedicated staff has started teaching him the `sit` command, and let me tell you, he’s a quick learner with an enthusiasm that is absolutely contagious!His journey hasn’t been easy. Having been in two short-term emergency foster homes (to prevent euthanasia), Elijah has shown that he enjoys other dogs and will not harm cats, though he could use a little guidance in understanding their boundaries. His innocent curiosity sometimes leads him astray, but with patience and love, he can learn to navigate the world of felines with grace.Please help us save Elijah, he deserves a real chance at a fulfilling life.
