Female Dog, Great Pyrenees

Great Pyrenees (Medium Coat)

Description:

Meet Leah! Born around early October 2023, this sweetie pie is fully grown at 60 pounds which puts her firmly in “Pocket Pyr” category. She may gain a few more pounds. Leah came to us after being found on the street and taken to a local animal shelter. She was extremely thin, malnourished, and matted. Her coat is getting thicker as she continues recovering from her street life, and she is turning into an extraordinary beauty. Leah loves all people and goes right up to everyone, even strangers, to get lots of loving. She loves attention and will stick to you like Velcro when you are up and around in the home. She is very easy to call inside from the backyard because of how much she loves people and their affection. Still being young and loving to play, Leah has a moderate amount of energy and will most likely continue to love playing into adulthood. Leah loves to play and cuddle with other dogs. She lives in a foster home with 6 other dogs and could do well in a home with or without other dogs. Because she was without food for so long, she can be food aggressive at times, especially during feeding time. She does fine when being introduced to new dogs when there is no food around. No cats! Leah does not like cats and seems determined to make a meal out of them. Her forever home should not have cats. Leah is house trained. She loves to go outside for walks, but most of all loves to go in the backyard with the other foster dogs and play. She has been on a few car rides and has done well. She is crate trained although becomes restless when confined for extended periods of time. She is doing great learning to walking on leash. Since it is still relatively new to her, she pulls sometimes, especially when strangers are around. She barks occasionally at things that she does not recognize such as the trash truck and other strange things. Leah has adjusted well to life as a pampered dog and will be a loving, loyal companion to the family lucky enough to welcome her into their home. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
