Description:

THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. Bobbie's Pit Bull Rescue (BPRS) has generally not met this dog and is not responsible for any wrong or incomplete information submitted by its owner. The dog did not undergo a behaviral evaluation by BPRS.If you are interested in this dog we will forward your information to the owner who will be then in contact with you. BPRS has no further involvment in the adoption process unless requested by the owner and/or adopter. Here is what the current caretaker has to say:We needed to take my mother’s dog. He is a Morkie named Teddy who is 11 years old, and both Teddy and my mother are in some degree of declining health. I live in Fredericksburg while my Mom lives outside of Pittsburgh. Teddy was doing very badly last week, and I took him to a Vet near her, who diagnosed him with Diabetes along with some related vision loss. He has responded to his insulin thus far, and we are at the Blood Panels stages of his diagnosis to determine if this is manageable in the long term. Though we were able to get help for Teddy and currently have him with us, there are some problems that will make it impossible to care for him long term. I am currently living with Teddy in our basement (I teach and have the summer off), but we already have a very bonded, reactive pair of dogs who are very anxious about Teddy and need to be kept away from him at all times. We were hoping that our dogs would be slightly more adaptable, but this has not been the case. In any case, my fear is that Teddy would become a “basement dog,” and just sit in a dark basement by himself all day. While my wife and I are committed to saving Teddy’s life, I’m not sure that that is a life that any dog would want. We are looking for a better opportunity for Teddy. I know that the diabetes and age make him not particularly adoptable, but he is a good boy, and I feel that, if the Blood Panels are favorable from the Vet, he still has a few good years left. Here are some details about Teddy: • He is very food-motivated and is bit on the large side right now (25 pounds) • From what we have seen, he is fine with other dogs and kids. We do not know how he reacts to cats. • He is generally good-natured and sweet, though a little bossy. • We have never seen any aggressive behavior or biting from Teddy. We are not seeing any food aggression either. Forgive the length of this email. We are trying to do the right thing for all involved and it is tragically sad and horribly complicated. Any help that you can provide would be a blessing, and we are willing to do whatever it takes to find a solution. If interested in this sweet boy please email us at [email protected] and we will get you in touch with the current caretaker.
