Male Dog,

Unknown Breed (Short Coat)

Description:

Sylvester has proven to be one of our super sweet pups, with eyes that draw you in. And those EARS! Oh my gosh! He is a perfect size - bit smaller in stature. And he is a good looking boy – black fur with perfectly placed white spots. Sylvester is: Affectionate and cuddly; loves to be around his favorite people. Potty trained! A daily participant in our shelter playgroup and plays well with most of other dogs. Currently housed with another cute pup, DOJA. Treat motivated! He LOVES to work and train for those treats. Sylvester is a hard worker and training is what he loves to do. He focuses on his handler and is a quick learner. (See his video!) Sylvester can be shy at first with new humans, which is understandable as he came to the shelter as a stray. Since then, he has come out of his shell and learning that strangers are safe. He could fit well in most homes; slow introductions are helpful, as is typically with all meet & greets. Sylvester is a really good boy! Come meet him! FOSTER REPORTS: When I heard that this sweet boy was having a hard time in the shelter, I couldn’t get him out of my head, so we have been fostering him. He was already on of my buddies, but, man, I’ve fallen head over heels these last few days! A few things we know and/or have learned about Sylvester: - dog social - houses with a female dog when at the shelter, and he and Hershey get along very well -potty trained -super super sweet, lovable boy; very affectionate -very smart and intuitive - he’s picked up on most of the rules in the few days he’s been here…he even heels on our walks without me asking him to! Unless a squirrel or duck is around anyway, but he’s getting pretty good with “leave it” - likes squeaky toys, stuffies, and the kong wubba -he is able to entertain himself. Hershey is a lot older, and not always up for playtime, and he seems to understand that, and will choose to play with toys or just lounge around like he owns the place, lol. He will look to me for snuggles if we’re just hanging out, but he’s perfectly content to lay at my feet or in the couch when I’m working. -and the list goes on. I’d love to get him adopted before I head out of town in a couple weeks, so please share! This special boy has to go back to the shelter tomorrow We’ve had a great time, and Sylvester has continued to do very well. He’s learning that it’s not polite to jump on people, even if it is out of sheer excitement after not seeing you for a while. He’ll come out and sit for a little treat instead about 90% of the time. We’re still working on counter surfing, but he’s very easily redirected. He’s learning that “it’s ok “ and to “leave it”when new people or animals go by outside the fence; and once he’s told this, he comes running back to me. We’ve gone to Mt Trashmore a few times to work on being around new people, and he’s done great! He’s learning to sit and stay while waiting for his meals. He now knows “stay out of the kitchen” when I’m in there cooking. I really can’t say enough about this sweet, special, lovable boy!
