Description:

~~THIS IS A COURTESY POST. THIS DOG IS **NOT** IN THE CARE OF THE ALTERNATIVE HUMANE SOCIETY. PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER DIRECTLY AT [email protected] FOR MORE INFORMATION. THANK YOU~~We are looking for a new home for our foster dog Penny. We took her in at the end of September after she was abandoned at a friends of ours house so we don’t know much about her. We think she is a Pittbull/lab mix and about 4.5 months old (assuming we got her around 8 weeks) and weighs around 25-30 lbs and growing fast. She is up to date on all vaccinations but not spayed yet as she is too young. When we took her in we were hoping to keep her however as she gets bigger it seems she may not be the right fit for our family. She has a lot of energy and likes to run around however our rental house doesn’t have a fenced in yard so even though we walk her almost daily we don’t feel she’s able to get the exercise as much as she needs. As she gets bigger she also is too rough when playing with our other little corgi who has hip dysplasia and we are worried that Penny might end up hurting her in the long run. We’ve been working with her a bit and she knows sit, shake, down and off and does pretty well on a leash although she does tend to pull a bit at the beginning of walks. She might need a little more training but seems to pick up on things fairly quick. She sleeps in her crate every night and can go through the night without bathroom breaks. She is potty trained for the most part as long as she gets let out to use the bathroom every few hours. She still does have accidents in the house occasionally but only if it has been a while since she’s been out. We feel that she would do best in a home where she can be outside often or has a fenced in yard where she can run around and play to get all her energy out. We also think she would be best suited in a single dog home or one with other big dogs only as she tends to play a little crazy and doesn’t always realize her size. However she does love to make friends and play with other dogs. We are unsure how she does around cats but think that she would most likely do best in a home without them. She hasn’t been around kids but she is so sweet we think she would be ok with them after she gets over the initial excitement of meeting new people. She is a super sweet and goofy girl and we just want her to go to a good loving family.
