Special requirements: needs another large dog in the home and experience with shy dogs. ***************** NAME: Amy Santiago AGE/GENDER: Estimated 7.20.20, Female BREED: Labrador Retriever mix TEMPERAMENT: Shy, cautious, but sweet and playful with other dogs WEIGHT: 60ish pounds HOUSE TRAINING: Great! CRATE TRAINING: She is crate trained and does well in her crate. OTHER DOGS: Good! She needs another dog in the home for her emotional well- being. Easygoing/ noncompetitive males would make a great match! CATS: Probably not, but not tested. CHILDREN: Best in a home without children under 16yrs due to her shyness with new people. ADOPTION DONATION: $550.00 HEALTH: Amy Santiago is healthy! She is spayed, microchipped, flea treated, vaccinated, and dewormed. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. HISTORY: Amy is a rock star student in obedience and can run through a routine like a pro! She's also amazing with loose leash walking- and that leash is the key to befriending this wonderful girl. She has learned that she should trust people on the other end- and while it's still important to give her some time, she will warm up quickly. Amy had a bit of a rough start in life as she was one of a litter of unwanted puppies found on the street in Texas. A rescue took her in and gave her and her siblings a chance and a home where she was loved and learned to trust- however, she is more shy than her siblings (who have been adopted). She has come so far and will thrive with patience, structure and love. NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: Amy has a heart of gold- just like her pretty golden red color. She's absolutely gorgeous but she doesn't have a big head about it- she's very humble. Amy has sailed through basic obedience and is ready to learn more. Training can be a great way to form a bond with her as asking for cues can sometimes help distract dogs from the "newness" of a situation and make them excited to show off their skills, as something familiar they recognize. She's learned to trust whoever is on the end of the leash- so this will help her adjust quickly. Amy still has so much potential to grow into a more confident dog, she just needs the right family: one with another dog and people with patience. An outgoing, friendly mentor dog will help her learn faster and easier- as well as ensure she feels more comfortable. She also loves to play with her dog buddies! It's important to know too that Amy is more of a homebody as new environments make her a bit nervous- but she will continue to get better with practice. She does love her yard and will need walks to increase her confidence- then when she trusts you, you can slowly tackle new environments. Amy is a faithful companion and will greet you with a wagging tail- she just needs the chance to show you her awesomeness! All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and Martingale collar. Each dog also receives a "Tour Gear Bag" full of brochures, coupons, and supplies for your new pup! ************************ ABOUT MOTLEY ZOO: Welcome to Motley Zoo Animal Rescue! We are a rock and roll themed, volunteer-powered, foster-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization based in Redmond, WA. WE ARE FOSTER BASED- which means: There is nowhere for you to go to see animals today. Animals are VIEWED BY APPT ONLY. No casual meetings, unless at one of our events. Animals receive one-on-one, 24/7 care in a private, volunteer foster home, which is individualized for their needs Through their foster placement, we get to know the animals well, which translates to accurate and customized matching service for you! As a private, volunteer home is involved we cannot accommodate same-day adoption meetings or surrenders. Approved applicants can meet and adopt at an event, but otherwise, an application is still required and must be approved before an animal can go home. TO ADOPT, PLEASE: Email [email protected] and request an adoption application. The auto-responder (triggered when you email), also has a link. Applications are reviewed by volunteers and take at least 3-5 business days to complete once submitted. Please allow additional time if the application is not completed in its entirety and or there are further questions or clarifications needed to approve you. Missing information will delay your application and may cause you to miss out on the animal you seek. If so, we will work to match you with the next animal that suits your needs. Applicants are always told whether you are approved or not. Please do not jump to conclusions and make assumptions. Inquire if you feel you have not heard from us in a timely manner. Our goal is to find the right match for the animal in question, first- and therefore, to satisfy you by doing that, next. These decisions about compatibility are NOT personal- they are based 100% on the animal's needs. If an animal is deemed "not a good fit", this is not a rejection. Rather, you simply may not be a match for that animal- but when appropriate, we will suggest a different one that suits your needs and desires better. The animals are placed based on "best match" in the "timeliest manner"- not necessarily first come, first served. If two applications are equally appropriate, the one that came in first will be considered first. If an animal is online, it is available- however, this can change from the time you inquire for an application and submit it. There are many reasons animals may be removed from our listings, including: the animal has been matched with another applicant ahead of you in the process; the animal has been matched with you and you have not received the notice yet; the animal has become sick or has a new issue that needs to be assessed; an applicant changed their mind, etc. There are many more resources for you on our website to help prepare you for adoption. Please visit our website www.motleyzoo.org for information about fostering, volunteering, fostering-to-adopt and more. Thanks for considering adoption, which saves the lives of animals in need. We look forward to helping you find your best match in a furry friend. Rock on- The Motley Zoo Crew
